Dressmaking classes with Debbie on Mondays.
Debbie is an experienced and highly skilled dressmaker and will teach you how to sew woven or stretch fabric. With woven fabric, we will be using one of these patterns, i.e. pyjamas or a skirt. In this way you will learn many techniques to increase your sewing skills.
For stretch fabric, we use one of the patterns used in our Stretch Sewing Classes.
If you choose to make a pair of pyjamas you can choose a pattern for either children or adults. This is an excellent way to learn how to sew a collar onto a shirt and do the front facing with buttons and buttonholes.
Or you may like to sew a skirt skirt using New Look 6843. The skirt pattern will cover darts, a zip and waistband.
You will be shown how to read a pattern, cut out the fabric, and make the garment. You will gain confidence in sewing with woven fabric and learn many tips as you go.
We have the patterns in the Joondalup store, but you will need to bring your own fabric. You also need to bring your own machine. For stretch sewing, we have a full range of fabric to choose from in Nedlands (Knitwit) and we have plain fleece and cotton knit at the Joondalup store, as well as a sale table.
