The New Janome MyLock 554D Overlocker is Janome’s very latest portable overlocker (or serger) designed for ease of use, making it suitable for both beginners and intermediate sewers.
New features added to the existing features below
- Sewing performance: The standard sewing range of the default thread tensions [3-3-3-3] has been extended. This means less/easier tension adjustments when stitching light-weight Georgette to medium weight woven fabrics/knits/jersey through to drill/denim.
- NEW Presser Foot and double the Feed Dogs for improved feeding 8-piece feed dog
- Bi-Level sewing: Stitching multiple layers is improved with the new style presser foot and increased feed. Stitch 4 layers of denim/drill is quick and easy with the longer & lower curve at the front of the presser foot.
- Quiet Operation: Enjoy the smooth quieter operation of the Sailing Line models.
Key features
- Thread capability: Performs 2, 3, or 4-thread overlocking stitches, as well as a 3-thread rolled hem and flatlock stitches.
- Differential feed: Equipped with a two-feed dog differential feed system that prevents fabrics from puckering or stretching. The ratio is adjustable from 0.5 to 2.25.
- Easy rolled hem conversion: A unique conversion feature allows you to switch to rolled hemming without changing the needle plate, foot, or tension settings. Simply slide the needle plate setting knob.
- Simplified threading: The lower looper guides have been restructured for easier access. A color-coded threading system and lay-in tension dials further simplify the process.
- Adjustable settings: Features an adjustable stitch length (1.0mm to 5.0mm) and an adjustable cutting width (3.1mm to 7.3mm).

- Sewing speed: Can sew at up to 1,300 stitches per minute (SPM).
- Built-in features: Includes a retractable upper knife that can be disengaged, a built-in thread cutter, and LED lighting to illuminate the workspace.
- Accessories: Comes with a foot controller, a waste tray to collect fabric scraps, and an accessory box for storage. A dust cover is also typically included.
- Construction: Weighs approximately 8 kg and features a solid metal base plate for stability.
